September Spotlight: Jane Davis

Title: Senior Manager, Portfolio

Location: Port Orange, FL

Been with Collaborative for: 8 months

Why did you choose Collaborative?

Prior to joining the company, I was a Collaborative customer: a project manager for the City of Port Orange's year-long, full platform deployment. I got to know the company really well throughout the project and the procurement process leading up to it. I was so impressed with the people, Cynergy methodology, and work ethic at Collaborative that I knew it was the place for me to be! It was a really easy transition, as I had enjoyed my Collaborative counterparts so much and had such a great working relationship with them that it didn’t feel like starting a new job. I was so welcomed into the team already.

What does your day-to-day look like in your role?

There are always several standing meetings, checkpoints, documents, and tasks that need to be knocked out each day per our methodology, so I try to start the day by staying on top of those things and keeping an eye on future tasks & events. Then, regardless of how good the planning is, there are always things that pop up daily which are never the same, so there is still a lot of variety, which usually comes in the form of people and strategy on a project.

What do you love about your job?

I love challenging situations that require strategy, leadership, and creativity to solve. There is a great sense of satisfaction from resolving difficult issues and seeing people move forward feeling good and getting back to the tasks at hand. Plus, having walked in their shoes before, it’s nice to be able to share my former customer experience with our current Collaborative customers on projects! Most of all, I enjoy engaging with customers, prospects, and my Collaborative team to transform organizations with cutting-edge technology.

What does it take to be successful in your role?

I believe having an even-keel personality that's not easily ruffled is quite key and also a willingness to jump into a variety of tasks and be able to prioritize those accordingly. Experience and education are, of course, critical. I’m glad I have many years of project management experience and education under my belt that I can draw from. The number one thing is a positive mental attitude and the ability to help others have one, too.

How does Collaborative help you grow as a person and in your career?

By watching and experiencing Collaborative employees help one another (and me!), I have daily opportunities for learning and growth. At Collaborative, I can reach out to any of our highly skilled employees for assistance on just about any matter that I have a question about. Plus, I have been able to contribute and help others in return. Collaborative Solutions truly does have a great culture that is up front and center, woven into the day-to-day fabric of the organization. Being part of that is a very positive thing for me. Also, there are many ongoing training offerings and opportunities, which is awesome.

If you could have a superpower, what would it be?

I would love to be able to talk to animals. I am involved in animal rescue including some of my own rescues, so I’d love to hear their stories from their past before they were rescued (which could be sad, but I would love to know).

What’s your favorite TV show at the moment?

I’m currently re-watching Dexter and thoroughly enjoying it. Typically, I watch a lot of documentaries, though!
